Extra Curricular Activities at the home of the TIGERS
At NCBIS we pride ourselves on being an active community and as such, we have an ever expanding variety of Extra-Curricular Activities. These take place after school from Sunday to Thursday and involve every member of staff and the majority of the students. Our 70 weekly activities cover sports, academics, creative endeavors and performing arts, and are aimed at developing our students’ self-esteem, confidence, decision making and health whilst complimenting an already highly developed classroom based curriculum
To accommodate so many activities we have developed a two tier programme.
Most clubs run from 2.45-3.55pm, with other ‘late’ clubs running from 4.00-4.55pm. Some even run for two hours to allow as much development as possible in the run up to tournaments and performances
We have also developed a hierarchy of events, with our focus sports of football, basketball and swimming taking place on the same days so as to avoid lashes with drama productions and orchestra. This allows our students to broaden their interests and not specialise too early.
The majority of clubs are free of charge, but some outside agencies charge for activities such as golf, tennis, taekwondo, horse riding and theatrics charge for the use of their coaches and facilities. Other activities such as The International Award, Model United Nations, Academic Games, BSME and ISAC teams may also involve overseas trips which our students will remember for the rest of their lives.
Registration is done through the school’s online signup system which parents and students can access using their own unique username and password.
NCBIS also plays host to Nile Netball and Touch Rugby leagues at the weekend and is the occasional home of Cairo Rugby club. These are open to the wider community of Cairo and have cemented our place as the most integrated and caring school in the city.
