Dear Parents,

Maths Passports

This week I am pleased to announce the launch of our Maths Passports in Primary School. Since the introduction of the 2014 National Curriculum for England there has been a very clear emphasis on the importance of children knowing their number facts and times tables thoroughly and having instant recall of this information. Consequently, on Sunday we will be introducing a new mental maths programme called ‘Maths Passports’, starting in Nursery and progressing through to Year 6. Further details of our new programme can be found by accessing your child’s year group website.

Our Class Websites are a useful tool to stay up to date with what is going on in your child’s class. Teachers have shared the address of your child’s class site with you by email. They will update them weekly to notify you what is happening in class. We encourage you to check the class sites at least once a week and use them as a tool to talk to your child about what they have been learning in their class.

Please email your child’s class teacher if you have not received information about your child’s class site. Alternatively, you can email our PYP Coordinator, Mr David Bremner and he will send you the link.

Badges on site

The safety and security of our students is of paramount importance to us and we kindly request that all parents and visitors visibly wear badges when on the school site. If you do not have a badge, you can obtain a visitor’s badge from security at the main gate. Students are not allowed to remain on the site after school hours unless registered for an official school activity. Your support and cooperation is very much appreciated.

Timetable adjustment

Finally, the loss of two Thursdays this term has been unexpected, especially as some classes have specialist classes on Thursdays- this will make it challenging for teachers to write reports on progress at this stage. We have regained a day by changing how we will do Student Led Conferences and we have plans to run a Thursday timetable on another day this term so that the teaching programmes will be back on track.  It may mean your child will need their PE kit or library books on a day outside their routine. More information related to this will follow closer to the time.

For further insights into our week, please remember to follow us @NCBISPrimary and subscribe to our Primary and Dutch Calendar to stay up to date with events happening in the Primary School.
